First workspace
The first visit to a fresh install is a setup screen. It creates your account,
your workspace, and a #general channel, then signs you in. There is no
separate registration page: after setup, the only way in is an invite.
Inviting people
Section titled “Inviting people”Workspace settings, then Members. An invite is a link, optionally locked to one email address and always with an expiry. If you have configured SMTP, Slick can mail it for you. Without SMTP, copy the link and send it however you like.
New members land in #general automatically. Everything else they join
themselves, or you add them.

Decisions worth making early
Section titled “Decisions worth making early”Who may create workspaces. By default only people who already own one can,
which keeps an invited member from starting their own workspace on your server.
If you are running a shared instance, set WORKSPACE_CREATION=anyone. See
Configuration.
Whether a channel is encrypted. This is set when the channel is created and is not reversible, because the server would have to be handed plaintext to undo it. Encrypted channels are excluded from search. See Encryption.
Whether you need a relay for calls. If everyone is on home wifi you probably do not. If anyone joins from an office or a phone network, you will. See Calls and TURN.
Branding
Section titled “Branding”Workspace settings, then General. Upload an icon and pick an accent colour; both fall back to a generated tile. People set their own photo in Preferences.
